Teacher Training

Schools that participate in the FFA SAFE program will be elegible for free teacher training held at both Penn State University, University Park Campus and other regional locations. This training will overview the FFA SAFE curriculum and teach instructors how to use GIS and GPS software utilized in the FFA SAFE curriculum.

The training will also overview field protocol that students will have to follow when interacting with landowners and collecting data.

Benefits of Teacher Training

This training is beneficial to the teachers as it provides exposure to different technology at no cost! Teacher training fulfills one of the requirements to receive free GIS software for your school.

Details

Teacher training consists of the following options

  1. Summer Camps - all expense paid (except travel) multi day camps where teachers and students will be trained to use and apply the FFA SAFE curriculum. Teachers can bring up to 3 students with them.
  2. Regionally Held One Day Teacher Training - One day teacher training events will overview the curriculum and provide guidance regarding it implementation. Up to 6 trainings will be held regionally across the state of Pennsylvania. Locations and dates will be determined at a later date however they will likely be held towards the end of the summer 2008.
