Host a 2 Day Summer Camp for FFA SAFE Training

Now is the time to get involved in the FFA Saving Area Farms Effectively (SAFE) program. We are looking for FFA chapters that are interested in hosting a 2 day camp this summer. The primary purpose of the FFA SAFE Summer Camp(s) is to provide the necessary training for FFA teachers and members to complete the farmstead mapping project during the school year under guidance of their FFA Chapter leader with the assistance of Penn State University Cooperative Extension Geospatial Technology Program staff.

Penn State University staff will provide computers and all the necessary materials needed to run the camp, the only thing that we need from the hosting chapter is a room for classroom teaching, local farmstead to map and access to a printer so that we can print the final map project (printer is not essential).

Requirements for the 2 day camp would be a minimum of 8 attendees (combination of teachers and students) and a maximum of 18. The attendees do not need to be from the same chapter, most camps consist of 3 to 4 chapters.

Upon completion of the Summer Program, each participating school will be eligible to receive a FREE ArcView laboratory license and a Garmin GPS unit. For more information on attending or hosting a summer camp, contact the staff at Penn State University:
